Potty Training

I tried a different method for potty training this time around. It involved staying in for three days in a row. Scarlett got her own Rapunzel panties that she loves wearing and it really helped her get pumped. First thing you set the timer for 15 min and have them sit on the potty and try to go. Whether they do or not, you give them a sticker to put on a chart. If they go you reward them with a treat. You make sure they are keeping fluids down all day so they need to go often, since the sooner they see what your trying to get them to do, the easier they'll go. Then you set the timer for another 15 min and repeat for three days! LOL

This mom on the blog said she had tons of candy for rewards, problem is I tried giving Scarlett candy and she threw it. LOL So I found that watermelon, and tons and tons of different fruits all day not only kept her hydrated (aka in need of lots of potty time) but excited since I usually just buy one type of fruit at once. This isn't a health thing, every kid is different. Whatever the treat is just make sure its one they'll love to be rewarded with.

Day 1 she had three accidents total and freaked out! Which is a good thing, because they hate the feeling and try to avoid it in the future. She actually went for the first time around noon after sitting on the potty every 15 min since 9am (but two of the accidents happened from then until noon). I got her super excited and she was beyond happy. After that she got a huge amount of watermelon all to herself.  We kept very busy playing games, dolls, etc. Having her sister there really helped because she encouraged her and was equally excited. The blog actually said to not have siblings around, but it was actually better for us. By the end of the day she was getting tired of sitting on the potty so much and even fought it, but I kept going. I was worried because she didn't go #2 all day, and with diapers she usually goes 2 - 3 times a day! Eeee! That day she napped with a diaper and night she slept in a diaper.

Day 2 By the next morning she was willing to sit on the potty first thing and get a fresh pair of undies. She went right away! A couple hours later she had an accident, but it was right next to the potty which to me was a good sign, because she didn't even tell me she needed to go, she just tried on her own. One  hour later she came to me saying she needed to go potty. I was surprised and took her to the bathroom. I gave her some space and some books. I peeked in and saw her starring off. LOL She went #2! I was so beyond happy. Instead of a toy, we blew tons of bubbles which with her is 10x better. The rest of the day was accident free, and she went in the potty during the day. She even napped in her panties and stayed dry!

Day 3 wasn't as tight of a schedule, but I do need to make sure she goes every so often, and after meals.   This time she didn't nap in a diaper again and remained dry. Then we went out in public to have lunch with my Mom. After her meal I took her to the bathroom. I thought she'd be nervous about a big strange bathroom. But nope! She went! No problem!

So I'm beyond happy with these results! I find its important to never back track, just keep pulling through. Its tons of work TONS! You get wiped out! But it works! I'm proud of my Scarlett! Big girl!! (And we also got off the binky this past week! I know I'm crazy to do both at once, but hey! I did it!)
