This was an amazing Easter this year! For starters the girls are at such a fun age, which I'm sure I've now said every holiday, but its true! We've read Easter books, watched Easter movies and this year Michelle got many lessons on Christ that actually stayed with her.
The night before the girls had a bath, I read them a good night story, and they crashed. Then I stuck with my tradition of watching Easter Parade while making their baskets. Ben actually joined me this year, although he's not a big fan of the movie. LOL
The morning started at about 6:30 since we have church at 8am. I woke up the girls who sprung up with excitement! Ben got the camera ready, and then it was on with the hunt! Michelle went right for the toy room and bam! Found her basket under her play vanity. Her basket had a Barbie theme this year. She got the new Barbie DVD, a Barbie dolphin plush that came free with the DVD, a few Barbie stickers, etc. Her "Barbie Diamond eggs" where filled with Sour Patch kid Bunnies (her fav candy). I got a Barbie catalogue in the mail the night before and threw that in as well. And of course she got a pink chocolate bunny!
Scarlett was totally unaware that she would get something too. She just sat back smiling at her sister. So I had Michelle break away and help Scarlett, and bam! They discovered it behind our big chair (time for the bunny to step up his game!) Scarlett's jaw dropped! I helped her bring it out and she started going through it with her eyes wide. Her basket was Hello Kitty theme! She got a lamb hello kitty plush, some side walk chalk, stickers, jelly beans, all starring her fav kitty!
I let them eat some candy, then we all started getting ready for church. The girls Easter Dresses where so gorgeous! They had tons of layers of amazing fabrics and looked very vintage! I'm very happy with how they looked. Michelle was proud of herself for trying the color blue as her Easter theme! LOL
Church was amazing! We heard great talks, I was reminded of good lessons! Michelle was great during sacrament meeting, and Scarlett was fussy, BUT I don't blame her since she had been up for a couple hours already and had lots of candy. Thats on me. LOL I was asked to give the closing prayer... can't remember what I said, but definitely felt at peace. Sunday school, and relief society kept that same spirit through-out.
After church we headed to my parents house. First thing was the Easter egg hunt. This was the first year Scarlett got to hunt eggs on Easter! She was shocked again that something so fun was just in a place she goes to day to day! LOL They had lots of fun together, the pics are addicting to look through! Michelle found a special gift hidden in the play house. An Easter Mickey and Minnie! I got them last year but didn't get a chance to give them to the girls, so I forgot about them. I found them the day before Easter and thought...I'll do something with these later. My girls didn't get anything last year, not that it mattered they weren't too aware. But I thought, you know what? I'm going to spoil them a little, not like its costing me anything extra! They were so excited. After the hunt we took a few family pics as usual!
Inside my Mom and I served Easter brunch! One of my fav holiday meals ever!! I made paula dean's baked french toast, my Mom made quiche, and we had fruit salad, bunny roles, a juice bar, and the girls had Easter shaped pancakes!
The rest of the day we just relaxed at home! This Easter was very special and brought us closer. I had such gratitude and felt the spirit with me the whole day. It reminds me of what is most important in life. To me its my eternal family, and that we too can gave the gift of resurrection one day! Last Easter was tough, and hard to think about. Triggers where everywhere, things that would hit me and remind me of that hard-ship, but I am grateful for what I know. It carried me through! Happy Easter!!
