This is a funny story I feel the need to share...
Two nights ago I had an itchy throat, but I get allergies all the time so I just took a pill and crashed. The next day I felt ok, but that night I felt sooooo terrible, I feel asleep but woke up like an hour later feeling starved and super swollen and stuffy, red and puffy. Ben was awake eating a snack and watching TV, (its like 1am at this point too which is weird for him but whatever) So since he was so awake I asked him if he could make me some Ramen noodles w/the broth. He huffed and puffed about it, which makes me feel amazing!!! But he got up and went down stairs, when he came up shortly after I felt relief as I tasted the broth, however when I tasted the noddles it was like chewing on rubber. I thought "I know this man didn't cut corners on me" he saw my face and asked what was wrong, and I told him the noodles weren't cooked. He got irritated with me of course, but I asked calmly if he cooked it in the microwave (which he's done before and I've hated it, so I didn't think he would do that while I'm so ill) He got offended and said he knew I hated it cooked that way and said he cooked it like it said on the package. After a few more words, he went downstairs and came back 5 min later with a new bowl. He called me picky, dominating the works, but I knew it was late and I was feeling too sick to give him some of my usual way better come-backs.
The next day he said he was sorry for acting so grumpy. And I told him it was not a big deal at all, I was just feeling that sick and was grateful for what he did. But I did ask him "So...you didn't use the microwave huh?" And he said "NO! I wouldn't lie about something like that, but I will admit, I put the noodles in the pot and then turned on the stove to start boiling it." It made sense! The noodles weren't under-cooked, they were over-cooked! I apologized for not having more faith in his good works.
Well later that day my sister was asking what Ben was doing eating so late at night. He said he was cooking for me, and I asked her if she saw him cooking...and she said "Well I was watching TV in the loft and heard someone down stairs. I asked who it was and he said it was him, and I just assumed he was cooking for himself, but then he came back and made more so I didn't get it" I asked her to give me one detail...."Did he use the microwave?" and she said "Uh...yeah the first time" I looked at Ben who just had a classic look on his face that read "BUSTED!" I laughed and screamed "You lied to me!!! Over stupid soup that takes only a minute more on the stove!!!" We all laughed, and I think Ben learned his lesson. Gotta love him.
