Scarlett turned 5 this past December and started Pre-K.
Let me tell you! Scarlett has a personality! She is vibrant and imaginative! She is constantly building things around the house and is in her own world! Her speech has improved a ton this year which helps us as parents help her with any struggles. She started preschool five days a week in the afternoons. This has helped her work with both other authority figures and groups of kids. She now tolerates group situations with much more ease! She is still very much enjoys playing alone. I'm not as worried because she won't reject playing with other kids anymore if they ask her to play. She is so smart! She has a way of viewing things that are so not by the book which at times appears like a problem to others, but when you really get to know her its clear she isn't distracted, she just sees the unseen! She loves dressing up. She wants to be in a dress whenever possible and can't leave the house without a purse and small toy. Scarlett is also an amazing cleaner! She loves doing dishes (and actually does an amazing job). I often think she's spending an hour playing and I go to check on her to find she completely organized all the drawers in her bedroom, including folding each item of clothing and has made her bed and organized the closet! Of course if I suddenly say its time to clean your room, she'll break down. I don't fight it and honestly see that she'll clean each day any way without being told, it's just on her time vrs. mine.

She still gets very nervous when her schedule/routine are messed with. It's not easy to tell her to stop a task and work on another. She could even be doing a chore or homework and I tell her we can stop and play and she'll still freak out and break down. I've learned to let go of things of unimportance and save the energy for things that really matter. She hates pants. So I don't fight it. If she hates her homework assignments, then I take what she is struggling with in class and I find a different way to help her learn it while at home. Guess what? It worked! Her scores are way higher then six weeks ago! So with Scarlett I have to really listen to her and really observe her actions if I want to get anywhere. Its a challenge but its one I take on with a grateful and loving heart. When we read the Olivia series or watch Lilo and Stich we see Scarlett in both Olivia and Lilo hands down!
