I Heart Valentine's Day!

One of my favorite past times as a kid was the Valentine Parties in Elementary school. You pick out or make Valentines for your friends, the day was shortened and then you would decorated bags and pass out your cards. Treats where there, my Mom was always there usually with a sibling or two. We'd play games and chat and pig out on sweets. At the end of those parties everyone becomes best friends with everyone (for a least a couple days LOL) I loved dressing up, I loved all of it. So thats why I love this holiday, in High School its kind of pooed on leaving lasting negative affects on many many girls. But I always stuck to the simple stuff, and the traditions of the holiday.

My girls had quite a few fun times already and they're not even in school yet. Decorating was fun, we got everything up about a week after Christmas went down (mid Jan). I got out their Valentine books and DVDs (about two, Charlie Brown and Pooh Bear). Michelle made a Valentine Hello Kitty they had at Build A Bear that has been her companion at bed time. We even kept their tree out longer and I added some ornaments on clearance from Christmas that could pass for Valentines (Hearshy Kisses, Chocolate cover strawberries) My Mom gave me that idea and it was actually lots of fun!

Thursday - First party was Michelle's school party. She made Valentines for her friends and came home with a bunch. She was anticipating this for several weeks, so she carried around her little pouch everywhere and would look at them often.

Friday - The next day we had a party at their friends house. Heather and I combined forces and along with our fun guests had a great time! I made Michelle's outfit, so she and Scarlett where both sporting full on Valentine looks. The kids snacked on tons of fruit (I know right! Good kids!) Then they decorated cupcakes and decorated bags. They all had fun passing out the Valentines they brought. Michelle picked out some scratch and sniff chocolate ones from Barnes and Noble. So cute! The girls had so much fun with all their friends!

Saturday Michelle made a card at a Disney Store event, and Sunday got some treats from her Sunday School teacher. In dance class she and a few friends passed out Valentines.

Monday night the girls and I went solo to the Valentine party at the library. We ended up running into friends from church and her friend from school! So it worked out nicely. They did story time and got to eat lots of sweets and fruit. (You know Scarlett was happy! LOL) After eating Michelle whispered "Mom? I feel like dancing, is that ok?" LOL So she started busting a move in the middle of the room and soon tons of kids joined her! It was cute, not to mention a display on how kids get drunk off sugar! LOL

Tuesday was Valentine's Day. The girls started off their morning getting their "goodies" from Ben and I. Scarlett got a Tinkerbell card, Barbie gummy hearts, and a Repunzel barbie she's been coveting. Michelle got a Marie (cat from Aristocats) card and heart shaped York Peppermint Patties with pink colored filling (her fav and was beyond happy with her love of them and pink come together) she also got a Charlotte doll (from Princess and the Frog). In the afternoon we surprised Ben at work (Michelle's plan for weeks) and surprised him with a heart shaped box of Spiderman with gummies inside and a superhero Valentine card. She's had this stuff hidden for almost a month, so she was so excited to give it to him. Later they got more cards and sweets from my sister and my Mom.

Ben and I don't really do up Valentine's Day too much. We've maybe gone out twice on V day in our 7 years together. But this year we decided to go out. We hit up Cheesecake factory before the rush, got right in and had great conversation and food. (Too full for desert! Huh!) Then we shopped around the domain which was probably the greatest Vday of all since I got to really really take my time looking around forever 21. (Honestly was in their for about an hour) Then we went to see "My Week with Marilyn" I loved it!!!!

This year has been starting off great! Happy Val Day!
