I've got to tell ya, this year with Michelle and Scarlett being a such fun ages brought me back to my own childhood! Michelle is such a planner like I am, and so into holidays. Every morning she'll wake me up sit on my bed and cross her hands on her lap and say "Ok, so Mom, what's the plan for the day?" So we came up with so many fun things the last couple days before Christmas. On the 24th the girls and I made Santa's cookies, they were both so hands on this year! It was a blast! Michelle iced and decorated a bunch!
That night we went out with the family Ben spent his teens with (the Alldredges) to ihop, which has become a tradition now. The girls are very attached to Kimberly who is 18 and honestly the sweetest thing to them. After great conversations we said goodnight, and Scarlett hugged everyone and patted their backs and said "Murry Murry!" which is her version of Merry Christmas! LOL
When we got home, the girls got their play microphones and preformed some Christmas songs from the new Barbie holiday movie. They got super into it! After we all opened pjs, which Michelle had been anticipating for a long time! The girls actually got matching ones this year, some pretty Belle ones that looked Christmas-y without being too Christmas-y so they could wear them for a while. When they put them on Scarlett started looking at hers then Michelle's and then ran over and hugged her sister tight. She was loving matching her big sis! Michelle kept giggling every time she did, it made the whole family chuckle. Talk about Christmas spirit! Then my Dad read "The Night Before Christmas" something he's done since I was young. And then it was off to bed. Michelle carefully selected Santa's cookies and helped pour the milk, and said goodbye to our house elf. She slept with my sisters. They laid out a ton of sleeping bags and blankets in one room where they all camped out.
The next morning we got up at about 6:30. I woke up Michelle and she got so pumped. I snuck a loud animitronic Snowman who sings Let it Snow while glowing in different bright colors in my brothers room to wake them up, which was hilarious. (ok maybe just to me) Then we all lined up at the stairs and let the girls walk down first. They noticed the elf had left, then the cookies were missing, with a note from Santa. Finally they walk into the main room and she their huge Christmas dollhouse.
I loved this one because I've always liked the look of the wooden ones, but like the ease of the plastic ones, and this was kinda a combination of both. It has tons of Christmas decor and props that you can remove/turn over when its not Christmas. So without all the stuff, it looks like a normal house! Its so fun! This one also came with the family and all the furniture for every room! My sis and I had one when we were young and played with it for years...I mean YEARS! So they're excited.
They got a couple dolls, and some nightgowns, and DVDs I got cheap from Black Friday. I didn't spend to much on gifts since they got the dollhouse, and then....a Barbie mustang. I got it BF for 150 off which was nice. They freaked out when they saw it, via taking off a huge sheet after presents to reveal it. They had sat in these a million times at the stores (they would scream when we'd leave) but they didn't know that it actually moved until we got it outside. Scarlett was more then ok with letting her sister drive the whole time, which I thought would be a problem. Even when they're pretend driving it inside, Scarlett will always move over and beckon Michelle to sit in the drivers seat. It took a while for Shell to get a hang of the driving, and they hit my Mom's car when parking LOL But the laughs were priceless!
Ben got tons of clothes from Express, two pairs of shoes and a Kinect. I got 4 concert Dvds and A Coach bag/scarf.
I made my famous meatball subs for dinner that night and we ate and ate. After packing the girls stuuuuuf! (Took forever!) We finally got settled at home! Michelle and I made a late night Gingerbread house since we ran out of time the day before when we usually make it. But she hadn't forgotten and begged me at 10:30! She was half asleep, but we got it somewhat put together! She took A bite, then said..."I'm ready! Good night! Merry Christmas and I love you!!" Then she crashed!
It was a magical Christmas with these girls, their love and innocence makes Christmas so special and takes it back to the real meaning. A side note, Michelle offered to give some of her toys to Logan, who she still thinks is going to get better and come back from Heaven real soon. It was really sweet. I totally missed the baby this holiday. The one thing I had looked forward to more then anything was having a little guy here for Christmas. So its left me a little warn in some ways, but the blessing of my girls and the faith I have carried me through, as they always do! For Michelle having the story of the cute baby boy, our savior in the manger satisfied her craving to love a baby brother. This brother is constantly in our lives as well and heals us. What a true gift!
Merry Christmas! We love you all, Can't wait for the New Year!
