Thanksgiving Prep

Thanksgiving, like any holiday is a big deal for me. This one takes the most planning and work, but for some reason I love that it does! About a month in advance my Mom and I discuss the guest list, if any. Then a week before we plan the menu. The first couple days of the week consist of shopping, which we did a little last night and the bulk today, 2 hour trip.

The day before Thanksgiving I brine the turkey using my own brine recipe (uh huh!) And that night the pies are made. This year Michelle is so excited and wants to make a pie herself, LOL!

Thanksgiving Day I literally make the whole meal and my Mom helps me with all the prep. I finally perfected my menu (took me 6 years) Most recipes are my own now, or ones I've tweaked but its always a good meal!

The menu this year
Breakfast - Spiced Pecan Pumpkin Bread served with pumpkin butter and pumpkin cream cheese. To drink - some warm Apple Cider.

Lunch -Butternut Squash Soup, Brussels Sprout Salad (its actually really good!!)

Dinner-
My Herb Roasted Apple Turkey (leftovers didn't last a day last year, I finally have a great one)
Apple, Sausage and Walnut stuffing
Cheesy Green Bean Casserole (honestly my fav thing in the world! Forget Cambels!)
Creamy herb Mac and Cheese (a kid fav!!! Well...ok the adults hoard it!)
Whipped Sweet Sweet Potatoes (yes, thats double the sweet)
Garlic Herb Bacon Cheesy Mashed Potatoes (yes, its all those things and more!)
Cran-Lemonade with Mint (is chugged by the gallons!)
We of course have rolls, corn, cranberry relish, and gravy.

Desert - Carmel Apple Pie and Pumpkin Pie from scratch, Chocolate pie and Cheesecake.

I'm already tired and I only typed it all! LOL I tell my family to expect at least one break down during the day. I never know when it hits but it always does, but after some fresh air I'm good to tackle the rest! Ah...Traditions!

To be continued....
