Michelle had an amazing birthday party this year! She decided on a Wizard of Oz theme since she is so into the movie these days. I liked it because we did the princess theme which has become pretty typical for ages 3 - 5. So I'm glad to work with something that had tons of ideas to work with!
The decor alone included rainbows, red poppies, ruby slippers, blue gingham prints, punch that looks like the witch melted into the bowl leaving that hat behind, and even a "witch" trapped under the house as guests enter. And instead of the typical Dorthy get up, we went with a dress that was red and sparkly like the ruby slippers, which is Michelle's favorite detail and looked more like a party dress. She kept spinning around saying she was grown up in that dress!
Upon arrival the kids colored wooden scarecrows and ate lunch. Then we played a "Follow the Yellow Brick Road" game aka Musical Chairs.
Then we sang to Michelle and had cupcakes that I designed after Dorthy and the witches. The "Good Witch" cupcakes were vanilla with pink bubble gum flavored icing since Glinda travels by bubble. The "Bad Witch" cupcakes were chocolate with green mint flavored icing. And the Dorthy cupcakes were red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Michelle wanted pink and defiantly started a trend LOL
Opening gifts was a rush! She was so excited, and all the kids were swarming! It was so fun, and she got lots of great gifts that she has been playing with non stop!
We had 22 kids at this party! I was blown away! It really made the day so special for Michelle! They all got Dorthy baskets full of treats to leave with!
Its a party we will never forget! And her Great Grandma was there too which always makes her happy! I usually get individual pics of the guests, but since it was a larger number I wrote down the names so she can look back and remember.
