Many many changes happen when your child approaches 3. Some of the hard things include, well...a brand new attitude! As a newborn they cry because they don't know how to communicate any other way. At 2 years its extremely hard because they're testing out new independence and aren't aware of consequences yet. But at 3? They are definitely aware they have choices to make, and many times CHOOSE not to listen. She even has snobby comments now like "UH! MoooM-A!" and "Uh! O KAY!!" "I'm running away and I'm NEVER coming back!" So its tough to realize that your stress is coming from choices your child is purposely making.

But through it all I have found the most amazing rewards as Shelly has approached this age. Her personality has shone through every moment. I can understand her dreams and fears from her clear explanations. We joke around, we play, she learns so much every day! With her new responsibilities, a little lady has formed. She'll explain what she wants to do that day, does the most hilarious small talk EX: "So...Dad? What do you want to do tonight?" She starts to get excited over things I've lost joy in (Birthdays, rain, make-believe, board games) Things I enjoyed before I'm absolutely loving now, holidays, baking, make-up!)
Some things about the 3 year old Michelle

- Dislikes
Breading on food (takes it all off) or bread with something (like a sandwhich), Any kid show with giant plush costumes (I SO lucked out there!), Bats, Bugs, forgetting family prayer (she'll run out of bed and remind us, of course its probably partly her trying to stay up, but she always goes right down after!), pushy adults (if you're not her parent she won't take kindly to being scolded by another adult if I'm right there in the same room, and I don't blame her), when her clothes don't match, hospitals, kids that won't play with her (hello just trying to befriend ya here! No need to freak!) being dirty (again awesome).

I'm looking forward to her growing still, I couldn't believe it could get better and better...but it does! For me this mom thing is beyond bliss. Hard work, we all know that, but I guess I consider myself lucky that I barely notice or stress out about it because the good moments are just that great!
