Michelle is Potty Trained!!!

This might be TMI for many readers, but for my own records I must get this down since for me, its a big deal! (No worries I wont do pics! LOL)

Its true what they say! When they start to show interest in the potty, GET ON IT! She started showing interest around 18 months, but our Dr said her muscules may not be strong enough to hold it that young meaning tons of accidents, BUT to let her use it when she wants. I bought her a book, a chart w/stickers and just rewarded her for trying! She went like twice in her potty that summer. Once we moved she was reaching 2 1/2 and whats more she KNEW when she needed to go and hated being in a dirty diaper! She would go in her diaper, then would take it off and ask for a new one...at this point I was like NO WAY I can't afford this many diapers! You know whats goin on so potty it is!

I bought one more pack of diapers for bed time only, then bought her some little girl panites (NOT pull-ups because she kept taking those off too!) I said this is it! No more diapers. I stayed on her making sure she would try ever hour. She did have accidents probably one to two a day but HATED the feeling of wet undies so much because they wouldn't suddenly get dry!

I think the big moment was when she had an accident and was wearing her favorite dress and was devistated! So two days ago she just started going! Literally would go in without telling me even sometimes and would use the potty! After getting home that night even though she was wearing a diaper, she told us she needed to go and went #2! I was super happy!

The next day same deal! Even with a diaper she would ask to go! And the funniest thing was at my moms she suddenly called me from downstairs. I went down and asked my mom where she was and she said "She just said Mommy I need to go potty! And disapeared!" I went in the downstairs bathroom, the door was open, light was off, diaper on the floor, and she got on the BIG toilet and went #2! I was so suprised!

I'm so proud of her! But I must give myself a pat on the back as well! Its truly something you need to stick with! A diaper seems like the easiest thing when you're tired and don't want to stay on a toddler, but in the end the hard work is worth it for both of us!
