Cheer Competition

Michelle was nervous the entire week before her first competition. So much in fact, that I thought I was going to just let her stay home. She cried a couple times saying she might let her team down. She was loosing sleep. I was freaking out! A few pep talks later, and reading a Barbie cheer book a billion times, she felt she'll be brave and do her best.

When we got there she was immediately surrounded by friends, and I let her sit with them on a bleacher that was two rows higher then ours. Now THATS independence! LOL She felt so grown up! They started practicing together and she was just beaming.

The girls are called down and get to practice a good three times on a mat behind the main mat. I was so grateful cause not only could she see us in the stands, but she got to go through the routine over and over.

I had my camera ready when they were called out and I was screaming! LOL I was so proud of her! She had so much confidence! She had to go to the very front and top a pyramid twice right in front of the judges, which I know I would feel nervous about. But she nailed it with a bright smile!

She left feeling great! I'm so glad! I almost just let my fears keep her from just trying something. If she would've hated it, then right there I would've started to plan to possibly take her out. But now that she went I noticed she has gained confidence that has helped her in many areas!

So proud of Shelly! Way to Go!!!
